Vision boards

Vision boards are visual moodboards for a project's look and feel, living right alongside Files. Use one to arrange references for a thumbnail, a set, a color palette, or an overall vibe before you shoot.

Create a board

In the project's Vision boards section, click New board. It opens the canvas editor, where you build the board.

Add photos, text, and notes

The editor toolbar drops items onto the canvas:

• + Photo opens a picker with two tabs: From vault to place images already in your Asset Vault, or Upload to add new ones (they go straight to storage, the same as any vault upload). Each photo you click lands on the canvas.
• + Text adds an editable text block. Double-click it to type.
• + Note adds a sticky note for a caption or an idea.
• + Shape adds a rectangle, ellipse, triangle, line, arrow, starburst, speech bubble, or banner ribbon. Arrows are fully adjustable: set the curve, the tail thickness and head-end thickness (taper it however you like), and the arrowhead size; drag the box wider to lengthen the arrow or rotate it to aim. Any shape can also take a colored glow.

Move, resize, and nudge

• Drag any item to move it.
• Drag the corner handle to resize. Photos keep their aspect ratio.
• With an item selected, the arrow keys nudge it a step at a time for fine positioning.

Per-item controls

Select an item to reveal its controls:

• Front and Back bring it forward or send it behind overlapping items.
• Duplicate drops a copy beside it.
• Delete removes it (or press Delete or Backspace).
• For text and notes, change the font size, the alignment (left, center, right), and the color (for a sticky note this sets its paper color).
• Text can also take an outline (with adjustable width), a highlight pill behind each line, a glow, a gradient fill, and an adjustable drop shadow (color, blur, offset, opacity) - and these effects combine.
• Shapes and photos have the same adjustable drop shadow controls, and shapes can also glow.
• Photos have one-click Grade presets (Punch, Cinematic, Warm, Cool, B&W, Fade), a Duotone effect that recolors the image between a shadow and a light color, plus manual brightness/contrast/saturation/blur.

Board background and effects

Set the whole board's Background from the canvas panel: pick a swatch or choose any custom color. Under Effects you can switch the background to a two-color gradient (with an adjustable angle), add a vignette that darkens the edges, apply grain (film noise), a scrim (a colored fade from the top or bottom, or a colored vignette, to keep text legible over a photo), and a repeating pattern (dots, grid, halftone, crosshatch, checker, or stripes) with adjustable scale and rotation - rotate stripes for a vertical or diagonal look. These are quick ways to make a title or subject stand out on a thumbnail.

Preview as a YouTube thumbnail

Click Preview in the top bar to see your thumbnail dropped into a mock YouTube feed, surrounded by other videos, using your project's title and channel name. Switch between a home-page grid and a watch-page sidebar list, and toggle light/dark mode, to check that it still grabs attention at small sizes and against the competition. A vertical (9:16) canvas is previewed in the Shorts feed instead.

Magic resize and exporting

Made a 16:9 thumbnail but need a 9:16 Short or a 1:1 post too? Magic resize reflows the whole layout into another aspect ratio in one click. When you export, choose PNG or JPG, or Export all sizes to get a PNG for every canvas aspect at once.

Autosave

Everything saves as you go. The header shows Saving… and then Saved, so there is no save button to remember.

Pin a board to the project page

Like a file, a board can be Pinned to appear as a full-width read-only module on the project page, so the team sees the direction without opening the editor. Click Unpin on the board's row to remove the module, or Delete to remove the board entirely. You can pin more than one.
